The team remained undefeated with a win over St. John’s Episcopal.

Ward reported from the field: “[Team] members continued with good hitting and fielding—but this game also showed displays of exceptional base running and coaching that resulted in additional scoring.”

Girls Pool Night

Around 6:00 PM, girls and their moms arrived at the home of Charles & Cheryl Carter for a pool party. The water was certainly inviting on such a hot day and the snacks and soft drinks kept up our energy. When it was dark enough, we settled in to our pool floats and watched “Love Comes Softly” in the ad hoc outdoor theater. The boys had their own night later

The team continued its winning streak with a squeaker over Mountain View Baptist.

Behind by 1 point, Grace/Hanover surged ahead with 2 runs in the 7th inning. Hanging on in this hard-fought nail-biter, the team carried the day.

The team scored another win over Gateway Community Church. Here’s Ward’s report from the field:

“With several team members on vacation, members of the Grace/Hanover squad rotated positions continuously to find the right balance—and so they did!  For Hanover: Scott Soderlund on the mound again delivered up the pitching, backed up on defense by Pizana family members Rachel and Matt in the outfield, and Mike at second base.  Offensively, all added to the run tally with good line drive hitting from Scott and Rachel, while Mike and Matt brought roars from the stands with Mike just beating a throw to home plate to score an in the park home run (hit to the fence!), and Matt hitting yet another deep fly ball resulting in a stand up triple.”

Tuesday, 19 July – Friday, 22 July / 9:00 – 10:30 AM, for children 6 – 10 years of age. Coordinated by Kirsten Lowe.

When Pastor Crookshank mentioned that I could coordinate the Backyard Bible Club (BBC) my first thought was, “Aaaah—coordinator, that sounds scary!” Truthfully, I’m not sure the feeling ever fully left me. Even though it was a slightly daunting task I had such marvelous volunteers who encouraged me along the way, and the Lord orchestrated everything better than I could have imagined.

Each day BBC began with singing, lead by Mrs. Lisa Pizana. Then there was a Bible lesson (the week’s theme was “The Call of God”), which I taught. Next, Mrs. Christine Nerney creatively taught a memory verse. Game time followed with teens Zach Lowe and Matt Pizana. The kids really seemed to enjoy the time to release their pent-up energy. Then everyone cooled down while we listened to a story with Mr. Loren Land and his puppet friends. We concluded with a few more songs.

It was such an awesome blessing to me to be able to teach the children about the call of God. For some of the children, this was their first time hearing about Jesus’ love and the home they can have in heaven. It was an honor for me to be able to share the Good News of the Gospel with them.
