Lindsey Weberg on Mission

This summer, our own Lindsey Weberg embarked on a mission trip to Australia. In association with Teen Missions International, she joined 31 other teenagers from across the USA and Canada to form Team Australian flag Australia.

On 21 June the team mustered at the Lord's Boot Camp on Merritt Island, Florida, joining other mission teams for two weeks of intensive training. In this rustic setting, they were tried and tested with team-building exercises and learned construction techniques first-hand. Throughout this time, Bible study and spiritual growth were a daily focus.

Upon graduation, teams departed for mission sites all around the world. Team Australia journeyed to Tewantin, Queensland, on the east coast approximately 100 miles north of Brisbane. For the next five weeks, Lindsey and her team engaged in projects ranging from ministering in churches and youth groups, to sharing the gospel in local schools, to hosting a skateboard competition to evangelize the youth of the skating culture. All the while, the team also worked on various building projects.

At the conclusion of their ministry, the team joined other teams for a mission debrief and a few days of well-earned R&R and sightseeing. Departing on 14 August, Lindsey returned home, full of stories to tell, and praise reports to share of the Lord's work Down Under.

From Lindsey's Heart

“The greatest joy in my life is finding God”

Over the past several years, I have come to the conclusion that God enjoys surprising me. He does it in so many ways and He does it all the time. I have found that the greatest joy in my life is finding God—I love to find Him out, and He always has something new for me.

He brings along so many opportunities for me to truly know who He is, and when I find Him in places I wasn't exactly expecting, He reminds me that He is right where He said He'd be. This, of course, reassures me that He is in control of everything and I have nothing whatever to worry about—He's got the whole picture, and He's given me the details.

Like this whole Australia mission…the mission part of it is His idea, and the location part is mine. With the Teen Missions International Organization, I had the opportunity to go to over 40 different places this summer, including Switzerland, the Amazon, Cameroon, and more. Originally, Australia was my second choice (Zambia was my first), but I think Australia would be the absolute coolest place to go ever!! So…off I go…

“I am confident we will make it”

I want to say though, that this entire trip would not be possible if it wasn't for the incredible support team that I have behind me! To my parents, my brother and sisters, my church family, my relatives, my co-workers, and all of my many friends: thank you so much for everything you have invested in me that has made me what I am today, and has enabled me, in part, for work such as this. Mission work is very exhausting spiritual work, but I'm confident that we will make it, seeing that my team mates and I have hundreds of faithful prayer warriors fighting for us—not to mention that we have the Greatest Warrior of them all on our side!! Our work will be difficult, especially seeing as we are ministering to young people our own age, but that should make it all the more thrilling!

All that to say, I am very much looking forward to my summer in the Land of Oz…

G'day mate!
