Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to God our Savior, who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen. Jude 24, 25—NKJV<\/cite><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

There are certain words in the English language which captivate the imagination. One of them is the word dynamo. Related words which help organize the meaning for us are: dynamite, dynamic, dynamism, dynamics, and dynasty. The root of the word is Greek, meaning lord, master, judge; to be able, to have power, to be capable, to have capacity, force, might; and to possess strength, energy, and ability. Of course, the Greek word is often used of Jesus Christ in the Scriptures.<\/p>\n

Just as our word dynamo speaks of energetic, driving force capable of being put to work to accomplish mighty things, so our Savior is the force to be reckoned with by every human being, both here and, more particularly, in the hereafter. It is much too easy for nearsighted mankind to be captivated by forces he controls and lose sight of the plain fact that all die and will give account before the \u201cDynamo\u201d of the universe (\u201cYou established the earth, and it abides. They continue this day according to Your ordinances, for all are Your servants.\u201d [Psalm 119:90–91] \u201cHe is before all things, and in Him all things consist [are maintained, cohere].\u201d [Colossians 1:17] \u201cFor the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?\u201d [Revelation 6:17]).<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, believers are often subject to the very same malady as unbelievers, spiritual nearsightedness in regard to the affairs of men. Our problems mount with the circling years and the seriousness of life; we fail to see with clarity those things which are eternal in their essence and significance. The cure for our myopic faith is a healthy reminder that \u201cGod is able.\u201d<\/p>\n

Abraham and Sarah had to be reminded of this lesson back in Genesis 18 when God promised them a child, well beyond Sarah\u2019s childbearing years. Romans 4:21 states, \u201cbeing fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.\u201d What God promises He has total capacity to perform and He will not fail: Isaac was born. This is why Christians ought to \u201cset up camp\u201d in the middle of the promises of God, learn what He promises, pray according to His promises in the Word, and walk in faith based upon the Bible \u201cchapter and verse.\u201d Accept nothing less, for what He promises He is able to perform; this is the assurance from God.<\/p>\n

Our text in Jude doxologically speaks to the nagging conscience of the believer. When a believer nearsightedly looks at himself, his hope dims, his faults loom large, and his knees grow unsteady, surrounded by the reminders of sins and circumstances. Look at verses 24 and 25 again and see the Great Dynamo of the universe, the Lord Jesus Christ. He is able to keep you from stumbling (make you stand surefooted [2 Peter 1:10,11]) and present you faultless.<\/p>\n

If myopia still rules your spiritual vision, apply the balm of trusting His promises. \u201cNow to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ\u2026according to the commandment of the everlasting God, for obedience to the faith\u201d (Romans 16:25). \u201cFor in that He Himself suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted\u201d (Hebrews 2:18). \u201cTherefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them\u201d (Hebrews 7:25). \u201cNow to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us\u201d (Ephesians 3:20). \u201cWho will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself\u201d (Philippians 3:21).<\/p>\n

That same power that holds the universe together as well as the tiniest atoms of which your body is made is the dynamo behind the transforming of a sinner into a saint. Nothing is able to stop His sovereign love (see Romans 8:38–39). Are you looking to Jesus with healthy spiritual eyes? Are the electrical leads of your faith securely connected to the dynamic promises of God? Trust and obey.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
