Hanover Baptist Church Events

It was a blessed night of fellowship and devotion. The main event was the reading of 1 Timothy as the early church would have received it. Each reader (one for each of the six chapters) gave us a word or an idea to listen for as the book was read. Afterwards we discussed what we learned and how we can apply it.

Our food theme tonight was “anything that dips,” and there was an amazing variety of favorites shared.

Adult Fellowship

Tonight we enjoyed an evening of fellowship and food at Dave and Donya Lowe’s home. They were gracious hosts and everyone had a wonderful time discussing matters of great and little import, playing chess, looking at pictures, and trying out all the new recipes.

We love and appreciate Pastor Rick and Betsy. We celebrated another year with a fellowship dinner following the morning service. After everyone was well fed, many of us told them just what they meant to us. Even the shy ones spoke up (a little). Especially heartwarming was to hear new arrivals express how their children loved Hanover, and how the adults appreciated Pastor’s solid and accessible Bible teaching.

Family Fun Night

Young and old came together for a fun-filled outdoor game night at Hanover Baptist. The evening began with a casual round of the classic outdoor game, volleyball. Around the hour of six we realized how ravenous we had become. We went into the church building for a delicious potluck dinner. As soon as we had satisfied our cravings we headed outside for a competitive game of kickball. When the game was over we all headed inside once again for snacks and fellowship; a truly delightful way to finish the evening.

Any month with five Sundays is special at Hanover Baptist. We celebrated this Fifth Sunday evening by reading Ephesians. Okay, we read the Bible in church every Sunday. What made tonight special? We read Paul’s epistle as if our church was the intended recipient. Six volunteer readers each prepared a chapter. Readers discussed key elements that were discovered during preparations, giving everyone specific things to look for. Pastor Crookshank lead a valuable discussion after the reading.

Most fellowships at Hanover Baptist include food of some form. This evening we enjoyed a number of home-made soups and sandwiches. As with all our Sunday Evening Bible Studies, the dress code was jeans-n-sneakers casual!
